You point is well taken, but if I can give some more important.......
Doc links can be replicated to NDL attachments. First to create an NDL attachment (for database, view or document link) you need to capture the link and paste the contents into a simple ASCII file. In review the format there is a science behind it.
Database link is in this format:
Database Title
<NDL>
<REPLICA 86256D5E:004509C2>
<HINT>CN=ServerName/O=OrganizationName</HINT>
<REM>Database TitleREM>
</NDL>
Replica id is the id of the database. Hint is just the server name in the name hierarchy format.
View Links:
Database Title
<NDL>
<REPLICA 86256951:0055A6EA>
<VIEW OF38D46BF5:E8F08834-ON852564B5:00129B2C>
<HINT>CN=ServerName/O=OrganizationName</HINT>
<REM>Patrick Corey</REM>
</NDL>
View is UNID of the view
Document Link ---
descriptor
<NDL>
<REPLICA 86256951:0055A6EA>
<VIEW OF38D46BF5:E8F08834-ON852564B5:00129B2C>
<NOTE OFAFBA7829:81DB55CC-ON86256D53:0014E0C2>
<HINT>CN=ServerName/O=Vanaheim</HINT>
<REM>Database Name, View Name, Document Name</REM>
</NDL>
View is the UNID of the view and the Note is the UNID of the document.
So I can see that any link which uses the Lotus Notes links could be tranlated to a NDL file attachment.
Take this as another rough blueprint to an alternative solution.
